Maui off the Beaten Path: 3 Hidden Gems

Maui is a treasure trove of beauty and adventure. With a vehicle from Allsave Car Rental Maui, you can affordably experience all that Maui has to offer. Whether you prefer the maneuverability of a Jeep, the luxury of a convertible, or the practicality of a compact car, we can serve your needs. Take a drive off the beaten path and enjoy these 3 hidden gems of Maui.

1. Bamboo Forest

Winding around curves and cliffs, the road to Hana is both picturesque and exhilarating. While there are plenty of incredible sightseeing spots along the journey, the Bamboo Forest is not to be missed. Located between mile markers six and seven, the Bamboo Forest is a well-kept secret that is mostly known only to locals. Hikers venture through a bamboo veil which gives way to a lush forest, beautiful swimming holes, and waterfalls.

2. Pa’ako Beach

Pa’ako Beach, also known as the Secret Cove, is one of the least visited yet most commonly photographed beaches in all of Hawaii! Located south of Makena, beach access is granted through two lava rock walls. Once inside the cove, you will experience one of the most intimate beaches on the island with incredible snorkeling and open shore lines that are great for bodyboarding and skimboarding.

3. Makawao Forest

Makawao Forest makes for incredible hiking and biking, especially on the Kahakapao Loop Trail. The trail is located at the top of the Piiholo Road and is most easily accessed in a Jeep. Once on the trail, hikers will see a variety of beautiful flowers, plants, and trees. There are picnic tables located along the trail, making it the perfect spot for a light lunch. The Makawao Forest is also located near the historical cowboy town of Makawao Town where travelers can enjoy shopping and dining after their hike.
