10 Must-See Sights on the Road to Hana: Part One

Planning a vacation in Hawaii can be overwhelming – there is so much to see and do! At Allsave Car Rental Maui, we supply the wheels for all of your Hawaiian adventures. While there are many gorgeous sights on Maui, we recommend driving the Road to Hana. Reserve a car rental at Maui Airport and check out these top 10 sights on the Road to Hana.

1. Twin Falls

Plan to stock up on picnic supplies and other necessities in Kahului or Paia Town before beginning your trek. At mile marker 2, you’ll want to stop and hike one of the most popular waterfalls on the Road to Hana: Twin Falls. This set of twin waterfalls is a sight to behold, and has a large swimming hole at the base. More experienced hikers can also hike to the upper falls to see a waterfall that cascades over a cave!

2. Rainbow Eucalyptus Trees

There is a grove of Rainbow Eucalyptus trees located along the road at mile marker 6.7. The trees are easily viewed from the road and make for stunning pictures. When a section of bark dies on these trees, it reveals a patch of new green bark. As the bark ages, the sun changes it from green to violet to red to orange; then the bark falls off and starts again.

3. Waikamoi Ridge Trail and Falls

Just a few miles down the road, stretch your legs on the densely forested Waikamoi Ridge Trail. This 0.8-mile loop climbs 200 feet in elevation and peaks at a picnic area. If you find yourself overheated or muddy, just head a half-mile down the road and swim at the roadside Waikamoi Falls.

4. Keanae Peninsula and Arboretum

When you reach the Keanae Peninsula and Arboretum, you’ve officially made it halfway to Hana! The peninsula is extremely fertile and houses large taro fields. Enjoy the scenic beaches here, and stroll along the lush Keanae Arboretum trail to see more Rainbow Eucalyptus trees, ferns, and hanging lobster claws.
