Hawaii is known for its lush vegetation and those large, iconic blooms. We encourage our car rental customers to see the flowers of Maui firsthand at the Kula Botanical Gardens. These gorgeous gardens rest on eight acres at the feet of Mt. Haleakala, which draws many visitors year round.

Kula Botanical Gardens

The Kula Botanical Gardens is a family-owned and –operated attraction that was first established in 1968 as a place for owner Warren McCord to display his architectural landscaping business. The grounds were so beautiful that McCord’s landscaping designs turned into tourist attractions.

Today you can enjoy and take pictures of hundreds of different plants, from eucalyptus to orchids. Maui visitors also enjoy the waterfalls, unique rock formations, a covered bridge, a koi pond, and much more. The Kula Botanical Gardens is definitely a place to soak in Hawaii’s beauty and enjoy a quiet moment. A visit to the Kula Botanical Gardens also pairs well with a trip to see the Haleakala sunrise.

The gardens are open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission prices are very reasonable: $10 for adults, $3 for kids (ages 6-12), and children ages 5 and under are free. You can also purchase an annual pass if you plan to come to the gardens more than once a year.
